Whats Happening in Our Classroom Lately:
Reading: We are currently reading a true classic “A Christmas Carol” where students are not only enjoying the story but also learning new vocabulary to enhance their language skills. Dickens Day is on December 20th, Students will dress up as a character from our book "A Christmas Carol". We currently have an AR goal of 16 points for this quarter!
Spelling: Each week, we focus on various long and short vowel sounds to improve our spelling proficiency. We have spelling tests every Friday.
Grammar: Our grammar lessons cover essential topics such as nouns, capitalization, punctuation, contractions, verbs, adjectives, and sentence combining, helping students build a strong foundation in writing.
Math: In math, we are exploring double-digit addition and subtraction, fractions, telling time, and measuring to the nearest half inch. Math facts (fluency tests) are given on Fridays.
Social Studies: Unit 4, we are studying change and history—examining how things have evolved over time while also recognizing what has remained constant. Students will create family trees to share their discoveries with the class.
Science: We are learning about the water cycle and weather patterns. In health, we are focusing on maintaining cleanliness and healthy habits through proper nutrition.
Bible: We are concluding our lessons on Moses and the Red Sea and will soon begin studying the Ten Commandments.
Handwriting: Students will finish learning script letters and numbers and will soon transition into basic cursive strokes in the upcoming weeks.
